Do you have Sarah's birth certificate? I think you may need to send for that Sarah's death certificate from 1940. Hopefully one of her children will have registered it.

Just to clarify Sarah was born 1863  from the baptism

Keyboard86 - have just been into 1911 census and that is Sarah and her son William who was born around 1893, (do not know about the boarder)....this must have been the story I had heard about her and Herbert splitting up, I know Herbert was alive in the 1930's when my eldest cousin Jill, his first great grandchild was born around 1936/37.....thanks, libralady (Lynn)...

Okay, so it's now looking pretty likely that is her death in Basford in 1940. Remember that her date of birth would only be as good as the person registering it knew. From earlier censuses she doesn't seem that sure.

groom - a lot of elderly people did not remember dates properly years ago as my other grandfather's birth year was registered wrong when he died.....libralady
