Has anyone used the site www1.nyc.gov/dorforms/marriagecert.htm as directed from Ancestryy? It gives that my relative Minnie Trepess married Manhattan 14/2/1900 but no spouse name is given, and the site's form has groom's name as a required field. Even if I was successful without it, would my application reveal who she married? (It's a steep $22 which is a lot for a possible dud!)
I'm sure it's the same one as my Minnie Mary Trepess born 1865 Leamington. Apart from the rarity of the surname, she is surely the one who arrives Boston in 1890, Waitress, mistranscribed Millie. She was probably on her way to stay with her brother Samuel James Trepess who arrived 1885 Boston and who is found on the 1900 and subsequently at Oyster Bay, Long Island. (BMDs in short supply for his family - but they're in NY State, not City. His eldest known child Ruth was born Brookline, Mass 1894, daughter of his 1st wife Eleanor Penny).
Searching NYC marriages there in general finds that almost all have both parties' names, but a few are isolates like Minnie. I tried looking for any Minnie born England about the right age in the NY area on censuses, but there are rather a lot of those, and all have arrival years quite different from my Minnie's 1890, so I'm stuck.
Mods feel free to move this to US board but I thought I'd try it here first.
