Kinsey parish lookups
« on: Monday 14 August 17 11:17 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the birth or baptism of Joseph Nottingham.  Census returns suggest he was born in Kinsey around 1806.  Any help about his baptism, parents or siblings would be really appreciated
Thanking you
Jenn

From OxFHS-  Kingsey Transcripts.

Baptism - 30 Mar 1806 - Joseph Nottngham, son of Joseph & Mary. Born March 16th.

From same source.

Marriage - 13 Oct 1801. Joseph Nottingham(otp), to Mary Wheeler(otp).  Witnesses - George Wheeler & Sarah Clarke.

No baptism for Joseph Nottingham(senior). in Kingsey.

Baptism - 7 Jan 1781. Mary Wheeler,  Daughter of George & Ann Wheeler.

Looking at the OxFHS - Marriage Index.  The last Nottingham marriage occured in 1707, the other 6 are from 1571 to 1657.

The next step, is to ask BucksFHS, for a baptism search for Joseph Nottingham(senior), as well as a baptism search from OxFHS.
I would guess his y.o.b is about 1775 - 1782.

Kingsey was part in Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire.  I would ask BucksFHS for a burial look up, as well.  As OxFHS Kingsey Parish PR's, only go up to 1812 for Burials & Baptisms.  Marriages are up to 1840.

His daughter, Ann Nottingham, marries Thomas Shepperd(c1807, Kingsey) in 1827 Kingsey.  I do believe that Joseph Nottingham((1771-1775),(senior) is in the same 1841 census record.

From FamilySearch.
Name - Joseph Nottingham
Place - Stone, Buckinghamshire, England
Gender -Male
Christening Date   29 Sep 1774
Christening Date (Original)   29 Sep 1774
Christening Place - Stone, Buckinghamshire, England
Mother's - Name.  Ann Nottingham.

This baptism may not be the only one that fits, as there maybe others in the Counties mentioned.

A Baptism and burial search are £1 each.  BucksFHS are for a 100 year period of search for one name, so £2 for the two searches.
If you can get a baptisms that fits, and a burial that fits with age, it will be cheaper than buying a death cert, or at least give you an idea of which death cert is right, if you wish to buy one.

If no age is given with the burial( which is not unusual), then a death cert will be needed, to hopefully guarentee his age at death.

I guess you know already, that to conform any person, the absolute miminmum of 'documentation' is three items,  birth marriage and death.....but the more the merrier.  You can never have too much. ;D

If your family seem to hang around a certain area....use a map to plot locations.  It helps give an idea of movement, and locations within the area of research. ;)

Not sure where Joseph Buckingham fits in, as it's Joseph Nottingham which is the subject. And it seems there a 3 Nottinghams in that list.  :)

Joseph Nottingham, of Haddenham, William Nottingham of Bishopstone, and James Nottingham of Wingrave. All servants or Labourers.
