Hi all,
My 4x gt grandfather John Mellor's nephew Charles Mellor is causing me a little bother, due to the fact that I am unable to locate three records pertaining to him. They being as follows:
His marriage - According to the new GRO index the 10 children of the marriage have the mother's maiden surname of Hodcroft. Census returns show the wife's name to be Elizabeth. Their first child Ann was born in 1835/36. The marriage probably taking place just before this. The marriage is likely to have taken place in either Stretford or somewhere else in Manchester.
1861 & 1871 Censuses - I have all the others pertinent to this couple. These two censuses however, I cannot find them at all!
Charles Mellor (1815-1891) & Elizabeth Hodcroft (1817/18-1868?) are in Stretford, Lancashire in 1851 where Charles is an Ag Lab & in Sutton, Cheshire in 1881 where Charles is a Widower & a Carter. Charles was born in Stretford & Elizabeth in Manchester.
If anyone is able to help with locating these records I would be most grateful.
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards
David
