Free BMD shows a Gunter/ Gahegan marriage in 1942.

You could check that to see if it is the correct forename for Gloria's mother.
There is then a marriage in 1945 for Gunter/Hodkinson for you to check and other births for Hodkinson/Gahegan.

The marriage in 1942 was between Iris Ruth M Gahegan born 1923 and Walter Gunter born 1919

The marriage was in Southampton and Walter died there in 1999

Iris and Walter must have divorced as Iris married George Hodkinson in 1977 in Macclesfield

Iris died there in 2004

It may be that George adopted Gloria at some point hence the Hodkinson surname
