I have looked at the SP entry! The date of birth is 14/12/1914 at 14 Elder Park Street, Govan, for William Copland with parents, James Dargavel Copland , a Butcher's Salesman, and Margaret Copland nee Halbert (married Govan 18/8/1914).

I thought that the OP meant that the SP entry had amendments but it would appear that someone has "amended" an actual Extract Birth Certificate as there are no amendments to the dates on SP!

Argghhh...so did I  . Yet another occasion of proof that you HAVE to look at the original documents, and sometimes HAVE to pay for them. You must have spent some credits looking at that...

Hi Josey, No I don't have father James' military record.  I believe that his records were lost in the WW2 bombing.  Only have his medal record.   Thanks for your help
