Thank you Max ... I suppose the travel arrangement explain the stereotype of soldiers getting free rides on buses etc.

I had no idea Home Guard records are kept so thank you. I knew their work was of great importance but thought it very unofficial but perhaps that is the hangover of Dad's Army.
