I didn't think of that combination. I searched for Horace only and found him with a wife in 1901 and 1911. Was living on independent means. I know John left about £1100, but I wouldn't think that would have meant Horace no longer needed to work. Alfred and Beatrice died before 1901 but Horace might have had to share with William unless he had already died. Perhaps he married a rich wife.

It certainly sounds like a rich wife.  I doubt that even properly invested £1100 would bring in much.
