William Joseph Sneller doesn't seem to have died until 1915 (Eastry, aged 63).

Baptised at Deal, 16 June 1852, parents William and Sarah.

He is with his parents in Deal in 1891, a mariner, "married" but no wife present. RG12/738/113/16.

I can't see any Sneller/Drury birth registrations. Not easily finding William & Amelia Sneller in 1881

Now found them in 1881, transcribed as Sadler but the original says Sneller.

They're at 6 Dolphin St, Deal - no children. RG11/998/79/25

William Sneller is with his mother Sarah in 1911, living Almshouses, Beach Road, Deal, and claiming to be widowed.

I am rather intrigued as to what may have happened between William and Amelia. Was she unhappy and seized her chance when he was away (at sea, once assumes)? I think I will buy the marriage certificate for Amelia and William Small, and see what she gives for her status. Have I found a bigamist?
