Hi, Goldie
You might catch the eye of more dating experts if you asked for your post to be moved to the other sub-board, “Free Photo Restoration and Date Old Photographs”, and perhaps change the title to something like, “DATE Please, Two Photos of Andrew and Mary”. I sometimes have a stab at dates and, while it’s certainly of the era you’re looking for, I don’t have the knowledge to pinpoint it closely.
Cheers, Peter.

First of all as has been said pic. 1 is reversed. The reason is because it's a tintype & taken in a photo booth.
Very typical mid - late Edwardian however he has a 2 1/2" starched collar which was short lived from around 1908-12. Taking in her dress/hat style I would suggest 1908-10.
Pic. 2 was also taken outdoors at around the same time, so they were out & about when these were taken.

Hope you don't mind, Goldie, I had a play with the first photo. I might have used a bit of poetic license in their facials.  ;D
Cheers, Peter.

Thanks, Jim glad you agree with us.  :)

How do you do your colouring, Peter?

Badly, mostly, Gadget. I'm part colour-blind so my efforts are a bit hit and miss. The program I use is Photoshop Elements. I'm gradually learning to pinch colours from other pictures rather than try to make up my own. Don't know if this answers your question. In short, I'm a learner.
Cheers, Peter.

Try doing layers or layer masks. Select the area you want to colour. Make that a layer and select a colour and vary the intensity/opacity. After you've finished this, you can then merge layers and lightly blend over the edges.  You can also do this with masking.

I used to do quite a lot on here  using layers and masking - if you look back at my postings - but resting my eyes at the moment  :)

Thanks Jim for your dating.
Indeed, they were married in 1908 - in Paisley. Perhaps they went to Edinburgh afterwards. Not sure they could have afforded a 'honeymoon'!

Wow! Don't they look grand coloured up Peter.  :)
(Although she does look a bit green around the lips?  ;) )
