Oldham Innkeeper
« on: Wednesday 20 September 17 12:33 BST (UK) »
Hi
My ancestor, Richard Chadwick 1698 - 1753, was an Innkeeper in Oldham (born in Rochdale). I know this is a longshot but is there anywhere that info such as the inn's name or address may be found?

Any info or help will be much appreciated.

OK so more than one, so likely his occupation. As you have no address like you would have from a census I would look at where they married, where they had children baptised and that is 'likely' to give you an area of where they lived.

Then I would look at maps of that area at that time and also make contact with any local history societies such as http://www.pixnet.co.uk/Oldham-hrg/miscellany/1924-failsworth-pole/1924-appeal.html and also see if there are any petty sessions for anyone arrested at/near his establishment for drunkenness /fighting and if it mentioned your man as the Innkeeper
