Dalling Hale, Near Holt?
« on: Tuesday 03 October 17 11:25 BST (UK) »
I have the following notice from the Norwich Mercury, 1828 (attached).

Pullyn Phillips lived in Wood Dalling; his grave marker says he lived at Wood Dalling Hall.

but his Widow (and presumed executrix) is listed as living at Dalling Hale, near Holt.

If it wasn't for the "near Holt" I'd be quite happy to assume that "Hale" is a typo for "Hall", but Wood Dalling is 9 miles from Holt. I don't think that's "near", especially by 1828 standards.

Can anyone help?

FindMyPast's "Index to Death Duty Registers"
Death year 1828

Testator - Pullyn Phillips; Executors - Hannah Phillips     Woodalling, Norfolk
I read "Woodalling" as the executor's address.

Hannah died 31 July 1847, age 74, at Forncett St Peter.

So it sounds like the newspaper I posted has both a typo ("Hale" for "Hall") and a completely extraneous reference to Holt!!

Thank you.

I've already confirmed that the notice I posted is the only reference to a "Dalling Hale" in the whole BNA!

And the next tenant of Wood Dalling Hall was James Blomfield Rush, Pullyn's nephew!!

(Pullyn married Hannah Blomfield; Hannah's sister Mary was James Blomfield Rush's mother)
