Army pensioners family records
« on: Wednesday 04 October 17 14:02 BST (UK) »
Looking for advice and help on tracing further back in my tree.

My 3x G. Grandfather Archibald Fraser 06/09/1816 - 1902 married Mary MacPherson.
Died 1904 aged 82 in Farr.

Mary's parents are listed as Angus & Barbara nee Mcintosh.

Can't find a birth cert for her?

Angus dies aged 81 in 1867 at Sockich,Dunlichity as the attached extract shows.
Father is a Chelsea pensioner & I can't seem to find marriage details or a d.cert

Barbara dies 1855 aged 76
Parent also a pensioner so yet more difficulty finding info.

Could anyone help me with records or information relating to this?

Thanks, Jamie

Can you please list the names of the parents of Angus & Barbara & any other info. you have which will save people having to download your images unless they feel a need?

Have you checked the Chelsea pension records? They can be very useful.

No problem.

The parents of Angus are James McPherson & Mary Macpherson nee McPherson.

Barbara's parents seem tobe Alex (Alexander) Mcintosh and from what I've been advised Caroline Mcintosh nee McBean.

Though its a tad difficult to read with 100% accuracy.

I have had a look at the Chelsea Pension records but am struggling to match data

Could Caroline actually Emelia(Amelia) ?

There is a baptism for Christian Mcintosh 23rd June 1791 Daviot & Dunlichty Inverness , parents Alexander Mcintosh and Amelia McBean.

Do you mean you can't find a baptism? Registration in Scotland didn't start till 1855.

Just wondering - does 'Pensioner' automatically mean 'Army Pensioner'? Or do you have other info?

Could Caroline actually Emelia(Amelia) ?
I think the name night actually BE E/Amelia - doesn't look like Caroline to me.

From the research I've done the only pensions available at the time were the ex army Chelsea Pensions.
Finding it hard to match up dates to names though.

I think the name is Amelia which would make sense but with the Baptism records being a bit incomplete in areas of the Highlands I'm not sure how to confirm marriages or deaths
