Lost Morris Family
« on: Saturday 07 October 17 23:16 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone, I'm currently searching for records of my maternal grandfathers family. My grandad's cousin was Charlotte Jones born in Oldham in 1891 to George & Sarah Jones nee Millington. In 1913, again in Oldham, she married Frank Morris. I don't have any records to prove this but I am told both were deaf. Frank was born about 1886 & is listed on the wedding cert as living at 15 Colomb Rd, Gorleston-on-Sea with his father William Morris.

I know Frank went on to be a teacher at Henshaw's school for the Deaf in Manchester and that they had a daughter, also deaf, called Marion. I have a picture of her but no other information on what became of the family.

I cant find them on the 1939 survey and no longer have relatives who knew any of them.

Can anyone help please?

Luke

Luke - have you looked up Frank Morris on any census to see if there is any similar annotation re: deaf?

Lots of info available to you as shown already

In 1901, Frank is at district Royal Deaf and Dumb Institute, Chester Road, Old Trafford. He was deaf from birth
In 1891 it says deaf and dumb.

This is the picture I have of Marian (not certain on the spelling) - I think she must be 16+ here so it cant be Gertrude. The census from before the wedding is correct though. Thanks!

'In 1901, Frank is at district Royal Deaf and Dumb Institute, Chester Road, Old Trafford. He was deaf from birth'

- could this be the school he later worked at?

I don't have lots of subscriptions but the one I have doesnt give me anything for Frank.

Thank you all for your help!
