John's parents were William Paton and Ann Howie.

He arrived in Vic with his brother Alexander in 1857 on the CHANCE. His brother William (my branch) was already in VIC.

I have everything needed on William who is buried Warrnambool. Have found the death and burial of Alexander in GEELONG. Mother for Alex was noted as HOWE on VICBDM.

Help with finding death and burial for John would be very much appreciated. It's possible he will be found in Woodford, Koroit, Tower Hill or Warrnambool areas.

I see nothing in my Victorian resources for John PATON born c1836 son of a William and Annie.

Searching in each State...and bearing in mind that the info on death certs is only as good as the knowledge of the informant.  Two Symington's in Scotland Symington, South Ayrshire and Parish of Symington, Lanarkshire.

PATON John
LIGGAN Ann

Leave you to search for the children etc.

The marriage certificate would either confirm or eliminate this John from your research.

Thank you Cando.

I've been on VICBDM and there is a marriage between a John Paton and Louisa Parsons 1869 4406.

I am thinking it may be John as Alexander married Emma Parsons, who is the sister of Louisa, in 1861.

John and Louisa are having children up to 1894 and Louisa dies in 1923, Warrnambool. TROVE references indicate they had a farm in Koroit. In 1914 Mrs Louisa Paton is selling up her property.
