I understand fully. I have sat and pondered the tree and all the bits and pieces for ages but still cannot sort out the appearance of Mary Staunton as mother-in-law.

She could be Michael’s mother - remarried and enumerator presumed she was mother in law. She could be stepmother to him. She shows born Wexford as does Michael.
The age doesn’t correspond with Bridget.
Sabina could be dittoed for Wexford rather than actual birthplace. It is difficult.

I can see John’s birth registration and baptism as Murphy. Have you found Sabina (child) birth registration. I know there is a baptism but I can’t find a birth in the indexes.

Yes it is difficult and I think you could be right about the birth place being dittoed. What makes it more difficult is that I did find a birth in Ireland for a Sabina Staunton & mother Mary.

Trish, The majority of census right up to 1911 have her born in Wales while her father was a peddler.

As she is in 1851 and if there are no deaths, then presumably born 1849-1850

Michael shows born Roscommon in 1911 but Wexford in 1881 

On one record she gives Holywell as p o b - there might be a baptism record in the archives

There is a death record in the indexes for Patrick Regan, 7 yrs in December quarter 1848.
Perhaps a child of the family?

Although there are other Regans in Wrexham.

As she is 2 in 1851 .... then presumably born 1849-1850

No! Someone who is aged 2 at the 1851 census date (March 30) must have been born between 31 March 1848 and 30 March 1849. 

Someone who is aged 12 at the 1861 census date (April 7) must have been born between 8 April 1848 and 7 April 1849.

So if the ages are correct there is a 75% chance that she was born in 1848, and a 25% chance that she was born in 1849.
