Rosina Brown Mclean
« on: Thursday 19 October 17 19:01 BST (UK) »
Rosina Brown Mclean was born in Kinning Park, Glasgow in 1893 to Roderick and Susanna. I am unable to find any information about a marriage or death on ScotlandsPeople and so far I have been unsuccessful in using familysearch. Can anybody help me with this? She had siblings living in the USA, Canada and South Africa, if that helps.

Can you please post all the details you have with names/dates/places both to help & to avoid duplication of effort (checking what you already have).

In particular can you tell us what Rosina's mother's maiden name was, when & where her parents married please?

Rosina Brown Mclean was born to Roderick Gunn Sutherland Mclean (1858-1934) and Susanna Hislop Brown (1863-1899). They were married in 1883 in Milton, in Glasgow. Hope this helps!

Thanks Lauren & yes it will help researchers.

Have you found Rosina in 1901 & 1911 census' & what details do you have?

Can you add dates for the siblings & when they likely immigrated & do you have areas in those countries where they were?

Yes, that is her sister. Susanna passed away in 1902 in Milton, Glasgow. Unfortunately I cannot find Rosina in the 1901 or 1911 censuses. There were also (many!) other siblings: James (Abt 1886-??), William John Brown Mclean (1886-1961 - he passed away in Los Angeles, California), Roderick Sutherland Gunn Mclean (1888-1918 - passed away in Belgium during WW1), Sarah Jane Shinnon Paterson Mclean (1889-1973, also passed away in Los Angeles.), George and (a second) Roderick who both died in infancy as far as I am aware, Grace Hislop Blackwell Mclean who died under the name Daisy Grundy (1895-1971 - passed away in Willston, Pennsylvania). They also had half-siblings who were born following Roderick's wife, Susanna's death in 1899. Her name was Margaret Gillanders and together they had Helen Kells Gillanders Mclean (1901-1985), Robert Gillanders Mclean (1903-1903), Margaret Violet Gillanders Mclean (1908-1987) and my great-grandmother, Florence Mary Nelson Mclean (1911-1998). All the half-siblings were born in the Glasgow area. In answer to your other question, on the marriage certificate, I believe he was a gas meter inspector.
