The Smith Family
« on: Friday 20 October 17 10:22 BST (UK) »
Walter Herbert Eckersley (born in Leigh in 1875, married Mary Elizabeth Shaw in Leigh in 1904 and died in Atherton in 1919) had a sister, Minnie Eckersley (born in Astley in 1867 and died some time after 1931), who married George Frederick Smith in Leigh in 1888, becoming Minnie Smith.

James Pendlebury (born in Atherton in 1824 and died in Conway in 1904), married Elizabeth Smith (born in Tyldesley in 1827 and died in Leigh in 1860) in Leigh in 1850.

I'm trying to find a family connection between Minnie Smith and Elizabeth Smith.

I know I couldn't have picked a worse surname! Any help welcome!

Hello,

I can’t quite follow this.
Are you trying to connect Minnie Eckersley to Elizabeth Smith or Elizabeth Smith and George Frederick Smith.

Alternatively are you trying to connect Minnie Eckersley and Elizabeth Smith even though Minnie was only Smith by marriage so the connection may not necessarily be through the name Smith?

Regards
Heywood

Elizabeth Smith and George Frederick Smith. My apologies. Could have been better worded.

George Frederick Smith and Elizabeth Smith - both marriages were conducted at Leigh Register Office, and so you would need to purchase the certificates in order to verify the fathers' names as given.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

George Frederic Smith was born 2Q 1860 in Bolton. Elizabeth Smith was born in Tyldesley in 1827. I was hoping to trace a link using the census records, but the common surname is producing too many potential 'matches'.

Sorry, there is no record of a George Frederick Smith being registered in Bolton in 1860.

There is a George Frederick Smith registered in Bolton District in September quarter 1858 - mother's maiden name is Ashcroft.
