Dogtags from WW1 numbers
« on: Monday 23 October 17 10:51 BST (UK) »
I've been provided with 4 dogtags: reddish-brown, round with CE stamped in the middle.

I'd like to know from what period they are (WW1?) and what part of the number is regiment/and soldiers number?

7381709
14862754
7401726
21047073

Thanks

I Believe they may be post 1920?...not WW1 as the numbers are too long...

Are they like the one in the photo here?

The "CE" indicates Church of England - used so that the correct burial rites could be performed.

Photo herewith attached.

The long long trail website shows that numbers 738 and 740 were issued to Royal Army Medical Corps....this would have been post 1920...

When we're 8 digits introduced?

Photo file size too large to attach... yes similar to picture you have attached, but not WW1 as no prefix/number too long.
