Kearley family on 1861 and 1871 Censuses
« on: Friday 27 October 17 22:19 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Can anyone locate for me the Kearley family of Uxbridge/Hillingdon in 1861 and 1871? I cannot find them, but they are in 1841, 1851 and 1881. Richard J. is the head (born 1830, Uxbridge), with his wife Caroline (born c. 1830, London), who married in 1855, in Uxbridge. Richard was the son of John and Sarah (maiden name unknown) so I'm looking for any clues in the records for his mother's family, as well as that of his father (whom I know nothing of).

Thanks,

Adam

I also know nothing of Caroline, other than she alleges to be the daughter of James Winch, a clerk. She claims to be born between 1829 and 1831, in Bow.

He has an elder brother, named John, born about 1828, and a number of sisters. However, the name is often misspelt, so they are difficult to trace.

John Kearley, b. 1828, Middlesex
Harriet Kearley, b. 1835/37, Uxbridge
Maria Kearley, b. 1837, Uxbridge
Matilda Kearley, b. 1840, Uxbridge
Thomas Kearley, b. 1840

The post-1837 births are not indexed, from what I have checked. That is why I am interested in the censuses.

So you can now search the gro indexes to get mmn from the youngest births.

You can also try to find richard and carolines kids in the indexes to see where they sprogged 1855-1881

Eg
KEARLEY, JOHN  WINCH     mmn WINCH     1860  J Quarter in UXBRIDGE
KEARLEY, ELLEN  JANE     mmn WINCH     1858  M Quarter in UXBRIDGE UNION  V
KEARLEY, SARAH  HARRIET     mmn WINCH 1856  J Quarter in UXBRIDGE UNION

Nothing on the GRO. I'll search the censuses. I could never locate John, so he may have died after 1841.

Matilda Kearley died 1854.

The rest are difficult to trace. Nothing on censuses.
