John Wise Merritt Marriage

I've just looked through the St. Leonard's, Shoreditch, marriages for that time period.   

No John Wise Merritt.  But on 3rd November 1835 there was a Thomas Merritt marrying a Charlotte Lace.   Maybe the person with the tree got confused with their Merritts.

Thank you yes this is a possibility hence why I want to find proof for myself.

If the ages are correct on the 1851 census, they may both have been 16-ish when they started having children.

Maybe they couldn't get parental permission to marry.
