Any help greatly received!!!!
« on: Monday 06 November 17 20:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am starting from scratch again, well from where i hit a brick wall.

I have my Great-Grandad Laurence Burns born 1906 in Stockton

His parents - Patrick Burns & Mary Keenan

Sister - Mary Burns b.1908

They appear on the 1911 census living with Patrick's cousin also named Patrick! And Mary has deceased by then so between 1908 and 1911 she dies.

It also tells me that their marriage had lasted 5 years so they were married about 1906?

I cannot find any records on Patrick Burns and Mary Keenan and any that I do find I am not sure of. I don't know whether to look for birth records in Ireland either.

If someone could look up Laurence or Mary Burns' birth certificate and let me know if they have any more details on them that would be brilliant!

Thanks in advance
Adele

This is his birth

BURNS, LAURENCE       mmn KEENAN
1906  D Quarter in STOCKTON  Volume 10A  Page 59

I think you will have to order it to be able to see the details. At the moment the GRO are doing certificates on line for £6 rather than the usual postal ones for £9.50

There is a private tree on Ancestry that looks as if it has the certificate attached, but you would have to contact them and ask to see it. It does give a date and address though : 11 Sep 1906 - 35 Hanlon Street, Stockton-on-Tees, Durham, England.

Yes, I have Laurence's birth certificate - that's my tree.

But the only information on it is parent names and maiden name. I was after a full birth certificate if there is one!

Thank you though

If you have the certificate from the GRO that's all you will get on it I'm afraid - child's name and date of birth, mother's maiden name, address, father's name and occupation and name of the person registering the birth.

His parents - Patrick Burns & Mary Keenan

Is that correct or was his mother Catherine as it says on the 1911 from Familysearch?

That's his cousin Patrick.

On the census there is another Patrick (the one I'm researching)

And yes I'm sure as I have a copy of Laurence's birth certificate which states the mothers maiden name.
