Hi and thanks all for your posts. I have Emma's family tree e.g. born in india as was mum and dad. mum of portugese descent. I have details of both marriages. The first was classed as a Rev. Devereaux, but wealthy kids of titles used to buy these positions, no evidence of him ever being one. He inherited the title Viscount two yrs after marrying Emma Jemima Ravenscroft, in 1843 but there is another twist....in one of the Peerage websites it says THEIR son, another Robert, became the 16th viscount in 1843! When in fact the Rev Robert Devereaux inherited in 1843 and was then known as the 15th Viscount Hereford. So a bit of a mystery there already. But its Emma I am interested in. I know her birth, death and her family tree, but nothing about her life, and there should be as she married two very influential and wealthy men. Yes, I have thought myself was she dark skinned, I wouldnt have thought so, her father was George Ravenscroft esq: merchant of East India company in Fort William, India which was a very big wig area populated by British hoy paloy and soldiers. Her mother obviously by her name catholic background, and the men may have had indian women but the women rarely did. But I still can get no pics of her anywhere. The seat of the 15th Viscount who she married, was in Tregoyd, wales, borders of Hereford and Wales. I have tried various sites linked with it but found nothing. I am a beginner really and I am sure I am missing something , some link. If anyone can help, much appreciate it. Thanks everyone xx
