Elizabeth says in 1939 that she was born in 1880.

If she got her birth year wrong, she could be that 1881 birth with Paylor incorrectly written as Taylor for James' mother's maiden name.

If she was born in 1880, as Elizabeth Taylor, then she might have married Mr X, before then marrying Mr Wood, anywhere in the country.  As any marriage could have been just after the end of WW1 this is not unlikely.

I do not want to state categorically what has happened.  (However Elizabeth Paylor is still unmarried in all the censuses, so she does remain a strong possibility.)
