Could you help me with the mother's surname in this baptism record in Portlaw, Waterford (Bridget daughter of John Foran and Ellen....)

I think you are correct there. Ellen McDermott. I also have McDermott's in my tree, they were from County Westmeath/ Roscommon.

Hey Thanks for your quick reply. This McDermott family is in Tyrone, on my father's side. However my mother was born and reared in Roscommon.

I think it's more likely Ellena McDermott in register (Ellen McDermott in other records)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks, this is the only record I have ever found. I always knew Hugh McGuigan was my great great grandfather but never knew who he was married to. I use to research my family tree years ago but life got in the way. Now back at it and really enjoying it and it's great now we can look at church records online.
