Thank you so much for all your prompt replies.
My head is spinning, it never occurred to me that William Wilding could be William Rainford

Harry Chambers Wilding married Elizabeth Beech in 1896 she died 1901:
He then married Mary Theresa Rainford in 1902;

I have managed to list all the Wilding children from both marriages in my family tree, however, William was a mystery. I did include his date of birth this could be an error as over time I have received information I did not note where this came from;

Thank you regarding the marriages of William  however not sure if the Wilding marriage names are correct as I have looked for "William Wilding" at a later date will send for marriage certificates

there is the possibility that William is William Rainford and later it was changed to Wilding.
William appears in the 1911 Census as William Wilding.
Will continue to pursue Rainford as his name...Thank you once again
Wulfruna

Thanks, Lizzie,

Re Williams service records, without me double checking I think that is where I got the date from.

I think your William is the one that has been found in Birmingham, despite him acquiring a middle name, the dob is too much of a coincidence. Edith Hilda Brind is from Wolverhampton too and can be easily found in 1911.

Deaths Jun qtr1973
WILDING    WILLIAM JOSEPH
Birth 30 JAN 1901
BIRMINGHAM    9C   117

There is a burial of a William Wilding in May 1973 at Lodge Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.  I cannot see a death of another William Wilding at that time so it is likely to be the death Rosie found.

These indexes don't show middle names, but you can download an original image of the burial register for £5.

In 1901 Teresa Rainford has with her 2 month old William Rainford which fits with his birthdate.

William Rainford Wilding found!!!
After several years of searching for William his marriage certificate arrived today:

William returned to Wolverhampton after serving in the airforce, yes he did marry Edith Hilda Brind.
I was thrilled to receive this confirmation today, now I can close the book on William and Edith:

Thank you Rootschatters for pointing me in the right direction, this was a big help.
