Kent Probate Records
« on: Friday 24 November 17 15:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I was recently looking up some probate records on the Canterbury Wills website and I have a question about one of the references.

I know that PRC/17 and PRC/16 are the Archdeaconry Court, and 32/31 are the Consistitory Court however I am confused when it comes to the Acts listed.

Acts are given reference PRC/3 but I am not sure which court they would have been proved in.

Can anyone advise me?

Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,

PRC 3 is Index to archdeaconry court act books (PRC 3/12-21)
Ref No   CCA-DCb/PRC/48/3
Alt Ref No   CCA-DCb/PRC/48/3

Hope this helps.

Hi Matt,

PRC 3 is Index to archdeaconry court act books (PRC 3/12-21)
Ref No   CCA-DCb/PRC/48/3
Alt Ref No   CCA-DCb/PRC/48/3
Date   1550-1585

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Susan

Hi Susan

Thank for that. If PRC/3 references refer to the index of Archdeaconry Court Act books then would the actual Acts be recorded under a different reference?

How much info can be gained from these documents in comparison to Wills?

All the best

Matt
