Jon
I have a copy of Annie's birth cert Born Annie on the 29th June 1904 to Rose Ann Clancey.
The 1939 register has my fathers birth date as August 1923, he was born March 1923.
I think I would be a lot further on with this family history if people would give the correct dates and not guess.
Rosie
Do you know what papers were doing the rounds in 1950 Bolton.
Thanks
John.

Annie Dunn was born Annie Shatliff  on the 29th June 1904.

She was registered born as Annie CLANCEY  per:

Annie was born Annie Clancey 1904 in Manchester. No father on the birth cert.
Her mother Rose Ann Clancey married Thomas Shatliffe soon after and Annie took his surname.

Francis Dunn in Southern cemetery is that prior to his death he lived just around the corner from my father, his son? When I say around the corner I am talking three minutes. His ex wife? my grandmother was no more than five minutes away.

Are you saying that Francis & Annie separated after their appearance on the 1939 register  :-\

Hi Rosie
Yes I cannot find them after 1939.
John.

This needs to be clarified….. Was there any question as far as you know that Francis and Annie went their separate ways after the 1939 register?

Was your father the only child in the family? What other address' are associated with your father that may have been a family address - for example on a marriage record for him or a sibling (if there were any siblings)?   Was  Francis listed as deceased on his (your father's) marriage record?

Cheers

And can you confirm, that this is your grandfather's exact date of birth and his parents?
Ada's maiden name being CLAYTON - married 1897)?

Going by JD’s information, this would seem to be Francis.

Born 5th September 1903 baptised 16th September 1903, St James Collyhurst.
Parents Francis and Ada Dunn.
