Janet Mitchell
« on: Thursday 28 December 17 02:13 GMT (UK) »
I have a Brick Wall with my great-great Aunt. I have her Birth Certificate which states:
Name: Janet Mitchell
Parents: John Mitchell and Bridget ( nee Hawkins/Haughians)
D.O.B.  24 Oct 1886 in Moe, Victoria
Janet has 12 Half-brothers/sisters with the surname Fitzgerald.  Her mother was previously married to Richard Fitzgerald in Woodend, VIC
Any help would be appreciated.  Cheers Robyn

Hello Robyn,
You've posted in the "How to use Rootschat" board - I'll ask a moderator to move it to the Australia board.

I'm not quite sure info you're after - do you want to know more about Janet's parents? What do you already know about Bridget (if you know she was previously married)?

Hi Maddy, I have since found that Janet is marked as deceased on her mother's Death Certificate who died in 1925. So we now know Janet died prior to 1925. I'm just looking for a Death date for Janet Mitchell.
Cheers Robyn

Hello Robyn,

just checking ... there is a death for Bridget FITZGERALD, wife of Richard FITZGERALD of Kyneton (very near Woodend) in 1899. Very informative description of her funeral and family here:
http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article240983122

Are you sure this isn't the Bridget you mentioned in your post?

Sorry, ignore the above. Looking at the Vic BDM I see there were 2 Richard and Bridget FITZGERALD families. The death notice above was for Bridget nee SHANNON.

Yes that was correct 2 x Richard and Bridget Fitzgeralds in Woodend. The Court house in Woodend actually put 2 x children's Births to the wrong parents. And still stands wrong to this very day.
