The 1814 birth index from FS that Pauline posted earlier showed that George's parents as James and Ann. From the England & Wales, Non-Conformist and Non-Parochial Registers, father James is showing as a shoemaker.

Ed, what do you have on George and second family from his marriage in 1881? Have you found them in 1891 for example?

1881 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27S-H62B and just before his remarriage to Eliza Ann Pack. Fits well with details you mentioned earlier.

Birth for Charles A Clark aged 11 on 1851 census :

Charles Arthur Clark 1840 Hitchin v 6 p 570 mother Martin

so the 1834 marriage I mentioned looks likely.

Likely death for George in 4th Qrt 1891 (Shoreditch Vol 1c/ pg 122 - George Gain Clark, aged 77).

Hopefully we can find (failing me  ;D) George with his new family in 1891.

The will of George Gane Clark's father , dated 1856 , is available on Ancestry or from TNA. It names George as executor and  beneficiary, along with bequests to George's children.

1891/1901 might be easier if we knew where the 1881 bride was born, her age, and the "usual" address from which the 1891 death occurred.

Everything else aside from that is looking nice & tidy
