Ah, brilliant, thanks horselydown. Just a few minutes ago I discovered that that Sarah had married Francis Fortescue, so that all ties in.

I'm done for tonight so I'll finish writing it all up tomorrow.

Oh and thanks again, Old Bristolian. I haven't found a record of death or burial as yet. I'll have another look tomorrow. Yes, I wondered if that comment was because he was going to war.

The words relating to Ayehill are as follows:

                                                                      ...all
my Right Title and Interest of and into my Ground called
or known by the Name of Ayehill ffield in the parish of
Compondendo in the said County of Somerset...

Presumably that parish name is meant to be Compton Dando.

I would read that as Lyehill ffield. Compare the capital L in Life in line 4?

From a brief online search, property ads show a Lye Hill Farm in the parish of Compton Dando.

Ah yes - I found it via Google Maps as well. https://goo.gl/maps/jtBKMgupgPR2
That makes sense.

I have now extracted and transcribed all of the info I need for this one - thanks again to all of you helpful RootsChat people!
