There was a marriage for a man of the right name in the right area in the right time-frame

Marriages Dec 1864  Northwich 8a/323

BARKER James
GIBSON Hephzibah
PLUMB  John
WOODWARD Mary

Don't know if he could be further located through census and other UK records.

A couple of notes.
Herbert and Sarah LANGTREE had about 10 births registered.
On all of these the mother is registered as Sarah Ann/e PLUME.

An interesting thing on the Qld birth index is this.

If you enter simply the name PLUMB in the box for mothers name, and years 1870 to 1917
at least six of the PARKER/RICHARDS births come up., under the surname PARKER
The surname of the mother is simply Annie RICHARDS. The name PLUMB does not actually appear :P

This suggests to me there is something on those registrations describing the name of mother.... such as formerly PLUMB.

So yesterday evening, just on the off chance, i googled John PLUMB Northwich, and one appeared with a title of boat family. I remembered in John's wedding he said his father was a waterman which i hadn't heard of before. I clicked on it and it has the entire family.
John PLUMB marring an Elizabeth GARTON 29 Dec 1828.

So we know John definitely existed .

Yes Melia,
I pointed this out to you in reply#14.

I also suggested a possible marriage if you would like to read through again.

I am not able to find him in 1871 with or without a wife.

Perhaps it is a good opportunity for you to use some of the parish register sources you have previously mentioned as being available and helpful.

Other members of John PLUMB's family continue to be visible through census .
His mother possibly died in 1854.
You can search such things quite easily from where you are.

I have noted John PLUMB's parents but as Annie is the link in my family i won't go down the road of John' family.
I did get the image for the first William's death (born 1868) yeaterday. He was born prematurely and died 1 day old. I also managed from this to work out the place name of where they were. I t was Yengarie.
Also still trying to work out how William PRICE became involved in all of this and what happened to John as he just seems to disappear. Perhaps that is what happened!!! Some misdemeanor!!
Did Annie just take on William's surname for the birth of her children but if so why did Sarah (born 1869) take the name of Plume when she married and had died, and the fact that Annie/Hannah re-married after William's death with the name Plumb.

Still nothing on Annies 2 sisters or brother though. Can't find anything on them apart that Robert was removed from the destitute asylum and placed with Mrs Kilworth in 1860.

May just have to forget them sadly

The reason I am suggesting you look further into John PLUMB's time  in England before marrying in Australia is this.
If you discover John PLUMB who married either WOODWARD or GIBSON in 1864 is the same John PLUMB as married Annie RICHARDS in 1867, and that this English bride is still living, then you have a case for thinking there has possibly been a simple name change for obvious reasons. PLUMB to PRICE..

Again, records of the English marriage will clarify.

Although there is nothing so far to absolutely support "one in the same man", there certainly are some strong hints.

The PLUMB/PLUME name is attached to the registered births of PARKER children and PRICE children as I have mentioned above. That is  why is the Qld BMD search is bringing up mother's name PLUMB on these registrations.

Possibly the exact wording on those births in the column "mother's name" might be 'formerly' PLUMB or it may be 'AKA' PLUMB or AKA 'PRICE'.

i see what you mean Sue.
Also i haven't come across a John Plumb arriving in Australia yet, and i don't think anyone else has mentioned finding one in our section.
There is a William Price as we know arriving on the Golden South.
I will see if i can look at any census today

Yes, look around the available census material and perhaps you will locate the couple or one or other of them.
A full detail of the marriage PLUMB/WOODWARD will be helpful if budget allows.
