Gulp, you might be onto something, I think I am right in saying that Peter Appleyard called one of his sons born in Australia Arthur Horatio Appleyard 1850-1898.

John Appleyard son of William Appleyard of Chapeltown in the parish of Leeds, staymaker,son of - Appleyard of Bramham and Ann, daughter of John Fisher of Tads, staymaker,by Elizabeth daughter of John Hide, cordwainer

Born Wednesday 12th February 1800, baptised Sunday 4th May 1800 Tadcaster

You're doing a great job and are so close, they were in Tadcaster in April 1806.  Wonder where they were after that?

I'm really interested by the Horatio connection you made! Horatio is family name of the Australian Appleyard family, I always thought it came through the Wheatley's. Harriet Wheatley's (Peter's second wife) family was heavily involved in the Royal Navy and Horatio is a family name for them too. Could it have come through both lines, very interesting!
