https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/56634332David was born in Little Ditton, Woodditton in 1895, the fourth son of Charles and Thurza Jaggard [nee Dean] and baptized in Woodditton on 14th April 1895.
At the time of the 1901 census he was aged 6 and in Ditton Green with his maternal grandfather Edward Dean aged 73, a farm labourer.
His father Charles Jaggard aged 36 was a bricklayer born in Dullingham; his mother Thurza then 34 and brothers Ernest William [13] Percy Charles [11] Harry Edward [9] Arthur [3] and Robert [1] were all Woodditton born.
At the time of the 1911 census,David now 16 was a farm labourer, living at School Cottages, Woodditton with his parents, brothers Percy (miller's carter), Harry (farm labourer) Arthur and Robert. In addition there were 3 sisters, Violet Eliza [9] Mabel Winifred {7] and Elsie Sarah [2] all Woodditton born. One child had died.
David married Alice Catherine Perren in Newmarket Registry Office on November 9th 1914, two days before he enlisted at Newmarket. Their address was 1 Green Road, Newmarket. There was a daughter, Vera Lillie Perren ( born 18th April 1914) and a son Ronald born in 1916. His widow re-married (to Albert Gilbert in 1918) and lived at Vine Terrace, Sketchworth around the end of the war. She received David's medals in 1921
