Please can you help date this photo and guess an age for the individual in it.
I think it may be a generation above my current assumptions, but would welcome your expert thoughts

Many thanks

It's hard to tell her age as the photo pixelates on enlargement...I have some photos with this type of scalloped edging from the 1950s. She could be in her late 30s early 40s.

Thanks Carol, I recalled my grandmother saying it was one of her sisters - the sisters were born a few years apart, 1905, 1912 and 1917.
My guess now is that it is a later photo of Winifred born 1912.  I had assumed the attached was of her with her first child in 1942, but maybe she is holding someone else's child
Here is a photo of Winifred; would you say they are the same person?

Deckle edges seem to have been around from the 1930s and my first thought was 1930s-40s.

I thought that she looked in her late 20s-30s.

What size is the first photo that you posted and is there any chance that you can scan it at 300dpi as estimating age is not easy with such a small image. The ones I have are about "2 x 2/12 inches. I dated it purely on some of the photos I have from my late Uncle but I could be way off the mark. Is there anything on the back?
I'm not sure that they are the same person....hair partings usually stay the same throughout life.

I inherited quite a lot of deckled edge pics from mother in law. I've also got a few from my family for the 1940s-one includes me as a baby  :-X

We used to reproduce them by tearing the paper across a saw toothed bread knife  ;D ;D ;D

Agree with Carol - a larger size would help  :)

The image is 4 x 6.5 inches
It has a glossy finish on the front, the back is blank and is not shiny.
I can see what you mean about the parting, mine hasn't moved my whole life !!

Hope the attached helps a bit more.

She looks in her 30s-early 40s in this scan. Also think it's 1930s.
