Surname Voisey Havis

Hey everyone, I am loving how much information you guys can come up with! 

So - I have found information that Samuel Voisey (b. 1790) m Susannah Hunter (b. 1797).

All of their children have the surname of Havis -
Susanah Havis b 1816
Richard Voisey Havis b 1816
John Voisey Havis b 1819 (my ancestor)
Ann Susannah Voisey Havis b 1821
Mary Elizabeth Havis b 1825

He marries as John Voisey Havis. 

John has a son William, who is named William Voisey, and on the birth certificate John is noted as John Voisey.  The Havis name has been dropped!

I cannot find how the Havis name came into it - and why it was then dropped. 

Any idea's on how I can find information on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Wendy.
Have you traced Samuel Voisey and his wife Susannah Hunter back any further?
Either of their Mothers may have been a Havis.

Or Samuel was illeg but knew his Father or his Parents married after he was born.

Where have you got this from - a written record? 

Not supposed to be Harris by any chance is it?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

The marriage certificate shows Samuel Voisey and Susannah Hunter.

Baptism record shows parents as Samuel and Susannah Havis.

No I haven't been able to trace back further for Samuel Voisey - but just realise I haven't tried search for Samuel Havis! 

The son, John Voisey Havis (as per baptism record) marries as John Voisey Havis, but then all his children are baptised with only the Voisey surname.

There isnt a marriage certificate prior to 1837.
When and where is the voisey- hunter marriage?
All census look up transcriptions are Crown Copyright http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

1812 at St Giles in the Fields   It was Samuel Havis and Susannah Hunter

Burial Date:   4 Nov 1827
Burial Place:   Christ Church, Southwark, Southwark, England

Samuel may have remarried;
31 Jan 1830, St. Mary's, Lambeth, Surrey
Samuel Voisey HAVIS to Laverna Catherine MANESSIER

Its strange as there are several dates for this Marriage 1828/1829/1830

1828 one has Samuel as a Widower.

Yes Trish he did remarry - and on some records it says he was a widower and and one he is a Bachelor!
We hadn't been able to get confirmation of Susannah's death - well or of Samuel! 

How could I get a copy of Susannah's death certificate or confirmation ?  Or where were you able to find this information ?

Now with confirmation of Susannah's burial, what I am really wanting to find is Samuel Havis' birth and death records! 

I have made contact with several other descendants that are also searching for this information - I am happy to do the research, but just don't know where to look!
