No cass marriage 1843 great or little dunmow.
No burial for Mary cass at Little or great dunmow or great easton. However, that could be the registration district. Sarah’s is there but you have that info. There’s nothing extra.
Will have a look at surrounding parishes later.
There is a Lydia patient buried in 1849, aged 14 years.

Hi
I am hoping that John married to Lydia is the father named on the certificate, but yes, I am not sure that Lydia is Mary's mother. I think there might be a spare Lydia Grout in Great Easton in 1841 (so many Grouts there!)
Cass is turning out to be an awkward name!
John

Definitely. There are virtually no cass people baptised, married or buried anywhere near. There are close names: bass, Carr etc but none of the Christian names match at all.

There's no child called Mary in that family in Great Easton in 1841. Which is a slight problem!
I think there are baptisms at Little Canfield for some of them. As Carst.
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea! A different John?

Looking at the new GRO birth index Mary Patient's maiden name is given as Cast as well as Cass.
John

Ok. I’ll have a look around there later. Supposed to be working at home but would rather be doing this!

There’s a marriage of John carst and Mary stokes at little Canfield 11/12/1821
Children also baptised there: William 23/8/1822, Isaac 18/1/1824 (an Isaac carst is a witness at their wedding, so probably johns brother or father’s name), Eliza 5/7/1830, Stephen 9/10/1832 and David 16/3/1833. At David’s baptism it says they were of takeley. I checked takeley and great Canfield and high riding but no baptisms of a Mary cass/cars/cast/carst there. Unless we can find her, there’s no link to this John and Mary. I think these baptisms tie in with the workhouse yard ones, don’t they?

Hi nannyj
Yes they do. But no link to Mary - still haven't found anyone very likely in 1841. Pity about Dunmow 1851 being lost, but there you go. Thank you for looking!
