Restore and Date Please -Mcintosh

Started 1/5th Gordon Highlanders
Then 2/5th Gordon highlanders then promoted to Lance Corporal

When he left Bedford for France he was 1/5th

Not sure of all the numbers etc does it make any sense ?

It's quite possible the photo is of a Gordon Highlander.
Regiments had 1st., 2nd. & 3rd. line Battalions. Only the 1st. & 2nd. lines went overseas.
They were numbered (in this case) 1/5, 2/5 & 3/5.

I don't want to muddy the waters but was there a Liverpool connection ?

hi jim amazing that I have found another photo of this man being alexander scott , the photo was taken in Liverpool, although he is from Aberdeenshire, may I ask how you mentioned Liverpool ?

did you see something in his uniform?

The thinking at the time was he may have been Liverpool Scottish which was the name given to the 10th. Cameron Highlanders (if memory serves).

Had a play around with the histogram to try a get a better image & have to say it's definitely Gordon Highlanders.

Wonder if he had been part of Cameron highlanders like you mentioned above

He is definetly Alexander Scott who died in December 16th  1916

Did you have any other info on this man ?

Think we have discussed some info on him
But I know you are better at picking detail than me
