Lost Siblings Elizabeth & William Webb
« on: Friday 11 May 18 11:54 BST (UK) »
I have the 1881 census for Staffs Showing the family living at 65 Tipton Rd. Parents William (1827) Mary Nee Southall (1836) with John 1855, Elizabeth 1863, William 1865, Thomas 1867 & George 1874. William snr moved to Monckton Main colliery W Yorks, sometime before the 1891 census, with him was Mary, Thomas & George. Does anyone know what happened to the two that were left behind??

I know that John Emigrated to Australia in 1895, to work in Hunters Valley.

If that helps anyone I would really appreciate finding these lost cousins.

Regards
Martyn

Have you checked freebmd to see if William married between 1881-1891?

Have you checked the 1891 onwards for them?  There is an Elizabeth Webb b 1863 Tipton working as a servant in 1891 so any possible marriage would be after 1891

Martyn,
I guess you are from John's line, so you would be in Australia, is this correct?
There is a tree and they have John's birth year and then unknown.
Would you like me to send your post to the tree owner?
Let me know please.

Maggsie,

Thankyou for your reply, and in answer to your question about location I do not live in OZ, in fact I live in the Southwest of England.
I am a direct descendant of William Webb born 1827, his second wife was Mary Southall, whome he married in 1859, 4 years after John Webb born 1855, we believe that Hannah Maria Oakley was his mother she died in 1858.

We know that John Emigrated to OZ around 1895.

His nephew Thomas Webb went out to OZ in 1909/10 and returned via new York in 1912, to have a "look around" whether he visited John we do not know.

You can send the post over if you wish, if it is the same John Webb, it will add a new dimension to our tree.

regards
Martyn

We have looked into this one and at first it seemed to be a perfect result, and it stayed that way until i found a much later census which pointed us to the belief that this Elizabeth's maiden name was not Webb.
So hence the request for help looking for the two that remained in Tipton.
