Ernest Burley - tidy up request
« on: Sunday 27 May 18 19:24 BST (UK) »
I am told that this group photo includes my great uncle (Ernest Burley) - he is the Sergeant on the seated front row. Would it possible to give this photo of these brave men a clean up & add some colour to Ernest to make him stand out.

I am struck how young a lot of these chaps look.

If Jim sees this one maybe he could give a view on the regiment being the QVR's - Ernest served in the 9th Battalion.

The man centre in the back row has his hand on the shoulder of the man in front - is that unusual for such a photo & would it indicate that they were brothers?

Keith

I hope this is what you wanted and that I got the correct man!!
I can't help with the man on the back row, I've never come across this before.
I agree there are some very young men in this group.

Nice work, Pat.

Definitely brothers, I'd say, Keith, no mistaking those cheeks and nose arrangements, especially when you flip the first fellow's face.

The cap badge is the right shape for the 9th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles).

Just a simple b&w edition as already an excellent coloured one:

I thought they probably were Peter but I'm pretty sure this confirms it.
