2nd Battalion Dublin Brigade March 1921
« on: Sunday 03 June 18 05:25 BST (UK) »
Hi All
I am seeking any information or photos of my relative Bernard O'Hanlon killed in action with his comrade Leo Fitzgerald 14th March 1921 in a gun battle with the Aux's
I know he is buried in Dundalk where he came from, I know he was in prison Cathal Brugha Barracks prior to Pearse St battle.
Any other information or photos would be greatly appreciated.
O'Hanlon Park in Dundalk was named in memory of him.

Perhaps the Residents Association could help but I can't see how to contact them
http://ohanlonparkhillview.com/history.html
You may have seen this before but if not there is information about the naming of the street.

There is an email address on this

Thank you I actually have the original clipping as I had to send for to see the records as his case was closed for 29 years and I recently got this.

Thank you for your time

You may have already seen these.  FindMyPest has ten entries for Bernard O'Hanlon born 1898 died 1921 under
Military, armed forces & conflict .... Civil War & Rebellion

(I don't have a sub, so I can't see the detail).  Some are not your man, but others might have something extra.  Ideally a prison record with a mugshot - but that's probably too much to hope for!

Of the actual meeting minutes when they decided to name the place after young Bernard.
It was quite tragic actually his mother lost her 14 year old daughter then one of her sons passed within two days of the daughter then young Bernard was killed in action in Dublin, so his poor mother lost 3 of her children within a month of each other again I read this in a newspaper dated at that time.
