New service record lookup
« on: Sunday 03 June 18 12:23 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I've been tracking my McGregor relatives who stayed in Scotland. They descend from the brother of my 3x great-grandfather. I found one that may have served in the war. It's an uncommon name and his age would fit.

Hector McGregor (b. ca. 1888, Fodderty). There is a medal index card from WW1 for a man of the same name in the Royal Highlanders. Service numbers are 631 and 315401. Mine was the son of Simon McGregor.

Can anyone help confirm this?

He is from Ross but I'm not sure. His brother Neil was called up so it might be him. They also had a younger brother named John who would have been eligible. All sons of Simon MacGregor.

The link that you have been given for Hector McGregor is the CORRECT one. Compare the information on the canadian attestation papers to the 1916 census address which you can also see for free on this link -
it shows Hector and Jessie at 1601 3 rd Ave N Lethbridge.
