Help with 1857 will please John Dean pawn broker Bilston
« on: Sunday 03 June 18 13:41 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon and thank you for any help or advice that can be given.

After ciderdrinkers reply to my post yesterday "Re: Help with occupation please - Dean, James and George 1861 census - Bilston" I have tried to transcribe my first 19th century Will.  After six pages of transcribing I have 34 words that I have not been able to work out.

I would be grateful if those with greater experience and wisdom than me could have a look at the attached PDF which contains these numbered words in context.  I will then update my transcription and post it once complete to hopefully save anyone else the time and trouble to transcribe it again!

Update: Word 2 is Dean (should have already changed that one!)

Thank you,

Nic

You've done well, and I think you'll find that many of the words outstanding make sense if I give you a couple of clues:

The letter which looks like 'r', at the start of nos. 6, 7 and 8 (and in many other places) is 'c'.

The third letter of no. 9, which looks rather like 'b', is actually 'd'.

I'll also help you out with 1-5: Ironmaster, Dean, linen, china, which
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson
