I can confirm that certainly Parish Registers for Harrogate are held at Northallerton as I have viewed them there. Looking at their Catalogue they only seem to hold details of Apprenticeships for Thirsk.

That should be a link to the Catalogue. If it doesn't work just North Yorks Record Office

Thanks, Pennines. I find it quite hard to work out where was and is in which bit of Yorkshire.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Don't thank me Forfarian -- I have just checked and discovered some Knaresborough records at the West Yorkshire Archive Service at Wakefield!

http://www.catalogue.wyjs.org.uk/CalmView/Overview.aspx

I have ancestors from Yorkshire and knowing where records might be is a bit of a lottery as far as I'm concerned -- but it may also be worth your while checking there. Sorry about this, but it is a confusing county.

I also used Harrogate as a search term in the Wakefield catalogue-- and there are Harrogate records  there also.

(I will slope off in despair now!)
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Not at all. I am just glad that someone is able to assist with it :) Thank you.
