Hi,

Thanks to everyone who replied.  I suppose the date of death must have worn off.  This Mark was born about 1796.  I found him in the NY Fishkill 1865 census but not the 1870.  So I think he must have died between that time frame. Mark's name is also at the top of the tombstone with his name carved in a curve with died under it going across.  There is a Masonic symbol at the top, so I will try that route and see if I can find out anything. The tombstone that DrDude45 posted is that of his son Mark Brierley Jr. and his wife. Mark Jr. is buried at the Fishkill Rural Cemetery.  I checked with that cemetery to see if Mark Sr born in 1796 was also buried there but he is not.
