Looking at your earlier post for Henry Wilkinson Symonds in this area
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=787008.0

There was mention on an Edward Simms born Brentford reg district.  Is this post linked to him
May be this one? No mmn listed so likely illegitimate

SIMONS, EDWARD       -
GRO Reference: 1857  D Quarter in BRENTFORD  Volume 03A  Page 41

ila29, you may not be aware but there are two versions of the GRO index, the one posted by cas has recently become available. I understand that they are from different sources of GRO records so spellings can somtimes vary.

The other index for the same record which freebmd have is
Birth Dec qtr 1857
Simms    Edward
Brentford    3a   41

James Sims
Age   31
Burial date 10 Apr 1831
Residence   Isleworth
All Saints Isleworth

If James was the father of Henry bn 1831 and whose probable widow was Mary that married James Appleton then it cannot be that 1833 marriage

I can only find the marriage to Mary Bennett 12 Mar 1833

I think the 3 Mar 1 833 date is one of the dates the banns were read which has been mistranscrbed -image shows banns dates as 17 Feb/ 24 Feb/3 Mar 1833

How certain are you that wife Mary's surname was Bennett??

Hello rosie99 and suzard,

Thankyou both for your replies.
Looking at the 1841 census, I see Henry (b. 1831) living with his mother Mary (b.1801), his stepfather James Appleton (b. 1806) and siblings James (b. 1826) and Maryann/Mary Ann (b.1829). But no sign of William (b. 1827). Maybe William, who as you report married Eliza Reynolds, was not of this family.
Your inclusion of James Sims' burial date was very helpful in nullifying the 1833 marriage.
Yes, rosie99, I am still working on Edward Wilkinson Symons/Sims. I believe he was illegitimate, his mother was Mary ? and his father was Henry Sims (b. 30 Sep. 1831, Isleworth) who married Harriet Potter (née Chapman, 1831-1864) on 18 Nov. 1861, Twickenham. After Harriets death he married Mary Ann Taverner (1845-) on 5 Feb. 1865, Ealing.

Once again many thanks,
ila29
