John's age is 70 on his
gravestone at Worlingworth but I wouldn't disregard the GRO's 65, indicating birth c.1775.
Dunwich deanery indexes published by the Suffolk FHS include:
1799 John HEARN of Yoxford m. Mary DURRANT at Middleton cum Fordley
1799, 1801 & 1803 John, William & Robert sons of John HEARN & Mary late DURRANT bapt. Middleton cum Fordley
and a variant:
1808 William HURREN m. Dinah ROUS at Yoxford
1808 William son of William HEARN & Dinah late ROUS bapt. Yoxford
1775 John son of John & Sarah HURREN bapt. Kelsale
Another John HURREN (son of Thomas & Mary) was baptized at Knodishall in 1776; he was probably a pauper living at Saxtead in 1851.
An otherwise extensive Ancestry tree (
GOVER) suggests that the destiny of the Kelsale John (bapt. 1775) is unknown, so it may be worth looking into his family:
1772 John HURREN m. Sarah SCALES at Kelsale
1773 Lydia dtr of John & Sarah HURRIN bapt. Kelsale
1777 Robert son of John & Sarah HURREN bapt. Kelsale
There were other children, possibly not Sarah's, if the father was a cordwainer and farmer, John HURREN the elder, who was buried at Kelsale in 1813 aged 77 (born c.1736). Images of his will (unfortunately very faint in places) can be downloaded from
Norfolk Sources. Several relatives are named: sister Ann WOOLNOUGH; wife Mary HURREN; sons William HURREN of Leiston and John HURREN; granddaughters Elizabeth NUNN and Judi...? [Julia?] NUNN (children of William NUNN of Yoxford? ... by the testator's late daughter Lydia); grandson John CURTIS alias HURREN; son Robert HURREN and his wife Lydia; and daughters Mary DAVY and Ann Hurren.
