I agree with Maureen about needing the Barlow marriage certificate. Otherwise you might be off on a wild goose chase. The names are too common to be confident about Catherine senior's marital history.
1841 census is short on detail so it can be difficult to positively identify the correct person on it.
You can't be sure yet that Catherine had arrived in England by 1841.
A tip about surnames like McDonald/McDonnell. Sometimes the Mac/Mc was missing from transcriptions.

From William Yates/Catherine McDonnell's marriage entry (3 September 1866) we know that William's father is George Yates, and at that time he was a Weaver (no indication as to whether George is still living or not).  William is said to be aged 21.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Good question  :-\  I can't seem to find the family in 1861 or 1851 in Manchester, where William says that he was born.  His age does tend to change somewhat - 1866 he is 21, 1871 he is 26 (OK), 1881 he is 40 and 1891 he is 54.
