thanks,im a bit confused now i wonder if john smith could have gone by William later on his life?
this all ties in otherwise including the area of Leicester,by 1881 John William would have been 4 and Maureen posted a census entry that had im living near by with his great grandmother?i hadnt heard of an Arthur before but he may have died young

I'm just looking for Arthur, father and son may both be John William and  my families often drop the first name or use middle names or  totally different one!

I keep checking occupation and it seems consistent with the marriage

Just look for Thomas HELPS lodger in Leic. St Marg.

Yes very true,I found a 1861 census for John Smith in anstey son of John Smith which would fit with the marriage record you posted,so maybe I had gone off track in my tree and need to change it
