Welcome to rootschat

Edward was baptised at Mundesley (freereg)
Birth 02 Dec 1841
Baptism    30 Dec 1841
Edward Montague Martin
Parents Thomas & Elizabeth
Father's occupation   Solicitor
I notice on the BT's that the Rector was Robert Steele, was he related to Elizabeth  :-\

You have the death for Thomas as 1843/5?  Where does his year of birth come from  :-\

There is a burial in Kensal Green 26 March 1846 for a Thomas Martin age 29, his abode was 3 South Square, Grays Inn, St Andrews, Holborn.  This area in 1841 was the residence of many solicitors/barristers (H0107/729 bk 5 folio 5 page 2 ).
This is the death registration index for him

Hi Suz,
Thank you very much for your info. Thomas Martin's wife Elizabeth Steele was the daughter of the rector of Mundersley, Norfolk & they were married in his church. I have the history of the Steele family going back to Sir Parker Steele, baronet in Ireland.
It is the forebears of Thomas Martin I am trying to find.
There is no mention of his parents on his marriage certificate.
Yes - Charles West Martin was a child of theirs.
Cheers
Paul Martin

Hi Rosie99
Thanks for your response.
As per my reply to Suz, Elizabeth Steele was the daughter of the rector of Mundersley, Norfolk.
I thing the Thomas Martin you mention as dying in 1846, may be too young at 29 to be the one we are seeking.
Regards

You state that Thomas died in the 1840's, where do you have Elizabeth in 1851  :-\  Where and when was she born.  Do you have Thomas & Elizabeth in 1841

I think Thomas mrtin died age 29 in 1846 is not your man as I found his will and he was a bachelor

When and where was Elizabeth Steele born?? Where is she and Thomas in 1841 as the children are not with them???

Thomas Martin died in 1843.
Thomas Martin Esq. became a "Barrister at Law" following an apprenticeship in London.
In 11th July 1842, he is before the Dover Courthouse Kent, as a plaintiff for the relief of insolvent debtors
His wife Elizabeth along with her children except the oldest Robert, emigrated to the USA, where she died in 1860 in Louisville Kentucky.
We have traced her child, Edward Montague Martin to L.A in 1920.
Robert eventually emigrated from UK to NZ arriving in 1859.
So by 1851, Elizabeth was in USA & Thomas had died.
I am seeking further info. on Thomas Martin Esq.
.

so we still don't know where Elizabeth and Thomas were in 1841 census?

I notice son Robert is with Grandfather Robert Steele in 1841/51 -so it seems wherever Thomas and Elizabeth are they don't have their children with them??
